THE writings are on the wall. The people are ready to return Barisan Nasional to power in the next 13th General Election.

They no longer have faith with Pakatan Rakyat. Many gave their votes to opposition in the 2008 General Election because they could no longer tolerate the weak leadership of Abdullah Badawi. Now that Najib is the Prime Minister and has shown that he is good at the post, they want him to continue leading the country.

Anwar and other Pakatan leaders have tried to show that they are capable of leading the country if given the chance. But the last four years have shown that they do not have the capability of coming up with a formidable team capable of outdoing the present BN Government. Too often, the Pakatan leaders fought among themselves. Each party has their own agenda that are not acceptable by the others. Voters know they cannot take chances.

Even a simple shadow cabinet cannot be established by Anwar, whom all the parties in Pakatan agreed would be Prime Minister if Pakatan obtain the majority seats. The reason is obvious, Anwar knows that the Malays will find it unacceptable for a Chinese Deputy Prime Minister and the Chinese do not want a mullah for the post either.

Pakatan defeat will be a certainty if he revealed his shadow cabinet. Hence, Anwar made up excuses that there was no need for one although he did on many occasions promised to release the names of his Cabinet members.

Opposition ceramah that at one time were always full of listeners are not almost barren. Many have abandoned them. The writer's best guess is that the people are getting tired of hearing the same unsubstantiated accusations. Nothing concrete but mere hearsays and wild allegations. They fail to produce evidences despite earlier promises made to do so.

But, to ensure a total victory for BN, Najib has still a lot of work to do. He must appease the fence-sitters who want to see a totally efficient Government. His cabinet members are trustworthy and are ever willing to serve the people. Under the current situation, the people do not want to see those who have abuse their positions or tainted to remain in the cabinet. Najib must let them go. The people wants BN to serve the nation without fear or prejudice. Granted the Malays have certain previlegies protected under the Constitution, but benefits must also be given to the other races. In short, Najib must not only be fair but seen to be fair to all.

The people are not asking for the impossible and they too do not believe what Pakatan leaders are promising them. Many are too far-fetched and impossible to implement. BN has been practical and have track records to prove them. What the people need is assurance from Najib and the BN Government that their welfare will be taken care of and that the nation continues to enjoy good progress.
